Creating ‘Something Nasty in the Woodshed’ was extremely uninhibited and experimental. Initially it was intended to support a marble run, as at that time my ‘conditioning’ told me that objects needed a function of some kind (unless they were figurative artworks). Whilst making this sculpture I discovered with gleeful excitement that ‘functionless’ sculpture was a serious, ‘grown-up’ concern.
